GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO : 982 th (TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 9 February 2026) DEVELOPMENT OF MEERUT AIRPORT 982. DR. LAXMIKANT BAJPAYEE Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) the present status of development of Meerut airport; (b) the total area of land required for the development of this airport, whether the land has been acquired, if not, the reasons therefor; (c) the present status of facilities available at this airport, the details of facilities developed at this airport during the last five years; and (d) by when commercial airline operations are expected from this airport? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (d): Meerut Airport in Uttar Pradesh is owned by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). For operation of 3C type of aircraft under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) conditions at Meerut Airport, a revised master plan indicating existing land of 44.45 acres and 96.14 acres reserved land, has been sent to the State Govt of Uttar Pradesh. The State Govt has been requested to hand over 96.14 acres of land to AAI. The facilities presently available at Meerut Airport include a runway measuring 1513 x 23 m, a tarmac/apron, a taxiway, one guest house and one Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility. The State Government of Uttar Pradesh has indicated its preference to restrict the airport operations, at present, to Flying Training Organisation (FTO) activities. *****
