Smt. Malvika Devi: Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) the steps taken by the Government to strengthen sports infrastructure in rural and semi-urban areas; (b) the total number of sports complexes and stadiums have been developed and made under the Khelo India Scheme (KIS); and (c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to set up new sports academies in aspirational districts specially in Kalahandi and Nuapada in Kalahandi Lok Sabha Constituency of Odisha? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS { DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA } (a) to (c) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the responsibility of development of sports, including strengthening of sports infrastructure through sports complexes and stadiums and setting up of new sports academies in the country, rests primarily with the respective State/Union Territory Governments. The Union Government only supplements their efforts by bridging critical gaps. The details of the sports infrastructure projects approved and their sanctioned cost, funds released and their physical and financial progress, under Khelo India Scheme across the country, including in the State of Odisha, are available in public domain on the dashboards of the Ministry at https://mdsd.kheloindia.gov.in.
