DEVELOPMENT OF SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE IN ODISHA

Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state :-
(a) whether Government has received any proposals from the State Government of Odisha for
development or upgradation of sports infrastructure in the State;
(b) if so, the details of such proposals along with the funds sanctioned and released during the last
three years; and
(c) the steps taken by the Central Government to strengthen sports facilities in aspirational districts
of Odisha?

(a) to (c) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the responsibility of development of sports, including
development or upgradation of sports infrastructure, sanctioning and releasing funds and
strengthening of sports facilities across the country, rests primarily with the State/Union Territory
Governments. The Union Government supplements their efforts by bridging critical gaps. However,
the Khelo India Scheme and National Sports Development Fund (NSDF), implemented by this
Ministry, under which financial assistance for development of sports infrastructure is provided are
demand-driven schemes. The receipt of proposals under the schemes of this Ministry is a continual
process. The proposals received from the State/ UT Government and other eligible entities,
including for strengthening sports facilities and or upgradation of sports infrastructure in the State,
are considered for financial support, subject to their completeness, technical feasibility and
availability of funds under the scheme.
The details of the sports infrastructure projects approved and their sanctioned cost and funds
released under the Khelo India Scheme and NSDF, across the country, including in aspirational
districts of Odisha, are available in the public domain on the dashboard of the Ministry at

The details of other sports facilities under Khelo India Scheme, viz. Khelo India Centres, Khelo
India State Centres of Excellence and Khelo India Accredited Academies, across the country,
including in aspirational districts of Odisha, are available at https://dashboard.kheloindia.gov.in.
Further, the details of various sports facilities run by SAI, such as National Centres of Excellence
(NCoE), Sports Training Centres (STC), Extension Centres of STCs, across the country, including
