DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM AT SATPURA TIGER RESERVE

Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that Satpura Tiger Reserve in
Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas have immense tourism
potential and its can be developed on the Public–Private Partnership
(PPP) model to promote employment and investment;
(b) whether the sites in the region like Gonwadi Bori, Patalkot, Chilak
etc. have been proposed by the Government for tourism based
investment in the Global Investors Summit;
(c) if so, the details and the current status thereof; and
(d) if not, whether the Government is likely to consider it for developing
tourism?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (d): Development and promotion of tourism destinations and
products including development through Public Private Partnership to
promote employment and investment is primarily done by the concerned
State Governments.
Madhya Pradesh State Government has informed that investors, during
Global Investors Summit and otherwise, are encouraged to invest in
tourism/hospitality related projects throughout the State including
Gonwadi Bori, Patalkot, Chilak etc. as per the provisions of Madhya
Pradesh Tourism Investment Policy 2025.
The Ministry of Tourism through its central sector schemes of
‘Swadesh Darshan (SD)’, ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0)’, ‘Challenge Based
Destination Development (CBDD)’ – a sub-scheme of Swadesh Darshan
and ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive(PRASHAD)’ schemes is complementing the efforts of tourism
infrastructure development at tourism destinations across the country by
extending financial assistance to the State Governments/UT
Administrations. This financial assistance is provided subject to
availability of funds, adherence to scheme guidelines and other
instructions issued from time to time, submission of Detailed Project
Reports (DPRs) by the State Governments, inter-se priority etc. In
addition, Government of India under its initiative for ‘Special Assistance
to States for Capital Investment (SASCI)’ has also provided financial
assistance to the States for development of tourism projects. Details of
the projects sanctioned under SD, SD2.0, CBDD, PRASHAD and SASCI in
the state of Madhya Pradesh is annexed.
