SHRI SANT BALBIR SINGH Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether Government proposes to start direct domestic flights from Amritsar, Adampur and Mohali airports in the State of Punjab to Takht Sri Patna Sahib and Takht Sri Hazur Sahib, keeping in view the religious importance of these destinations; (b) if so, the details of the proposal along with the expected timeline for commencement of such flights; and (c) if not, the reasons therefor and the steps being taken to improve air connectivity for Sikh pilgrims? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (c): With the repeal of the Air Corporation Act in March 1994, the Indian domestic aviation industry has been deregulated. Airlines are free to increase capacity with any aircraft type, free to select whatever markets and network they wish to service, depending on their operational & commercial viability. Currently, M/s IndiGo is operating flights on the Mohali-Patna sector, and M/s Star Air is operating flights on the Adampur-Nanded sector. ******
