Parliament Question: Electric Loco Shed and Washing Pit Line for Bandikui Railway Junction

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION No. 2836 TO BE ANSWERED ON 17.12.2025 ELECTRIC LOCO SHED AND WASHING PIT LINE FOR BANDIKUI RAILWAY JUNCTION † 2836. SHRI MURARI LAL MEENA: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government proposes to establish an electric loco shed and Washing Pit Line at Bandikui Junction Railway Station in Dausa Lok Sabha Constituency which will not only increase the operational capacity of the Railways but also significantly increase employment opportunities at the local level and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the Government is working on a Detailed Project Report (DPR), budget allocation, phased development plan to develop Bandikui Junction as developed station and if so, the present status thereof; and (c) whether any survey, pre-feasibility study/approval/ proposal are under consideration for extension of railway line up to Mehandipur Balaji in view of the increasing passenger load in the Bandikui-Dausa-Mehandipur Balaji sector and if so, the details thereof and the probable timeline? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (c) Electric Loco Sheds are planned based on existing and anticipated future traffic requirements of Indian Railways. Washing Pit Line facilities are planned and executed as per operational and maintenance requirement. Atpresent, Pit line facilities are available at Jaipur. Further, works related to Pit line facilities at Khatipura have been sanctioned and work has been taken up. These facilities are sufficient to fulfil the present and future requirements of the region. Ministry of Railways has launched Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for redevelopment of stations with a long-term approach. The scheme involves preparation of master plans and their implementation in phases to improve the stations. The master planning includes:  Improvement of access to station and circulating areas  Integration of station with both sides of city  Improvement of station building  Improvement of waiting halls, toilets, sitting arrangement, water booths  Provision of wider foot over bridge/air concourse commensurate with passenger traffic  Provision of lift/escalators/ramp  Improvement /Provision of platform surface and cover over platforms  Provision of kiosks for local products through schemes like 'One Station One Product'  Parking areas, Multimodal integration  Amenities for Divyangjans  Better passenger information systems  Provision of executive lounges, nominated spaces for business meetings, landscaping, etc. keeping in view the necessity at each station. The scheme also envisages sustainable and environment friendly solutions, provision of ballastless tracks etc. as per necessity, phasing and feasibility and creation of city centre at the station in the long term.So far, 1337 stations have been identified for development under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, out of which 85 stations including Bandikui, Dausa, Rajgarh, Mandawar Mahwa Road stations of Dausa Lok Sabha Constituency, are located in Rajasthan. Till now, works of 11 stations (Barmer, Bundi, Deshnoke, Fatehpur Shekhawati, Gogameri, Govind Garh, Jaisalmer, Khairthal, Mandal Garh, Mandawar Mahwa Road, Rajgarh) in Rajasthan have been completed. The works at other stations have also been taken up at good pace and progress of some of the above stations is as given below:  Bandikui station: The works of station building, platform shelter, improvement of platform surface, circulating area, waiting hall, toilet and 12 m Foot Over Bridge have been taken up.  Dausa station: The works of improvement of station building, waiting hall, toilet, platform shelter, circulating area, Divyangjan facilities and 12 m Foot Over Bridge have been completed. The work of lift has been taken up.  Bikaner station: The work of refurbishment of MFC building except telecom side has been completed. The foundation work of North side station building have been taken up.  Gandhinagar Jaipur station: The structural works of main and second entry station building, works of launching of air concourse and casting of deck slab have been completed. The finishing works of main and second entry station building, works of platform shelter and platform resurfacing have been taken up.  Jaipur Junction station: The structural works of second entry station building and basement, foundation work of air concourse and launching of Foot Over Bridge at Dausa end from platform 1 to platform 4&5 have been completed. The works of front station building and basement, finishing works of second entry station building and basement, fabrication, launching of air concourse and Foot Over Bridge at Sikar end have been taken up. Udaipur City station: The structural work of East and West side station building including basement has been completed. The finishing works of East and West side station building including basement have been taken up. Further, development / redevelopment / upgradation / modernisation of stations on Indian Railways is a continuous and ongoing process and works in this regard are undertaken as per requirement, subject to inter-se priority and availability of funds. The priority for development / redevelopment / upgradation / modernisation of stations is accorded to higher category of station over lower category of station while sanctioning and executing the works. Development / upgradation / modernisation of stations including under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is generally funded under Plan Head-53 'Customer Amenities'. The details of allocation and expenditure under Plan Head-53 are maintained Zonal Railway-wise and not work-wise, or station-wise or state- wise. Rajasthan is covered under the jurisdiction of five railway zones, namely, Northern Railway, North Central Railway, North Western Railway, Western Railway and West Central Railway. For these zones, allocation of ₹ 5,257 crore has been made for the financial year 2025-26 under Plan Head- 53 and expenditure of ₹ 2,829 crore (up to October, 2025) has been incurred so far. Development / Upgradation of railway stations is complex in nature involving safety of passengers & trains and requires various statutory clearances such as fire clearance, heritage, tree cutting, airport clearance etc. The progress also gets affected due to brownfield related challenges such as shifting of utilities (involving water/sewage lines, optical fibre cables, gas pipe lines, power/signal cables, etc.), infringements, operation of trains without hindering passenger movement, speed restrictions due to works carried outin close proximity of tracks and high voltage power lines, etc. and these factors affect the completion time. Mehandipur Balaji is presently served by Bandikui Junction, which is located at 10 Km distance from Mehandipur Balaji. Dausa-Gangapur City New Line (93 Km) at a cost of ₹ 950 crore has been commissioned in 2023-24. To further improve connectivity in the region, Agra Fort – Bandikui Doubling (150 Km) at a cost of ₹ 988 crore has been sanctioned. Land acquisition has been taken up. *****
