Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to
state:
(a)whether priority is not accorded to the local unemployed youth in
the recruitment of Grade3 and Grade-4 jobs in the iron ore mines of
the Steel Authority of India located at Kiriburu, Meghahatuburu,
Gua and Chiria etc. in Chaibasa, Jharkhand which resulted in the
large scale migration and rampant poverty in the area due to
unemployment;
(b)if so, the details thereof;
(c)whether the Government proposes to take any cognizance of the
problem to impart training to the unemployed youth of the area and
accord priority to them in the recruitment for Grade-3 and Grade-4
jobs; and
(d)if so, the details thereof?

RAISED BY SMT. JOBA MAJHI REGARDING EMPLOYMENT IN IRON
ORE MINES OF SAIL.
(a) & (b): Recruitment of employees in all regular cadres of Steel
Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is done as per Recruitment Policy of
SAIL. Open advertisement is issued in this regard on All India Basis
in accordance with Recruitment Policy of SAIL. Any eligible
candidate from entire country including Chaibasa in Jharkhand can
apply for the posts advertised.
(c) & (d): SAIL has undertaken various skill development initiatives
as a part of its’ CSR activities under which over 70 local candidates
are provided apprenticeship training in various disciplines and 50
local youths are supported for ITI course on yearly basis. Besides Soft
skill training is imparted in programmes like Computers, weaving,
stitching, Jute bag making, mushroom cultivation, GNM (General
Nursing & Midwifery) & ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) course. SAIL
also runs Saranda Suwan Chhatrawas at Kiriburu where more than 20
local boys every year are being provided free lodging, boarding and
education from Std IX to Std XII since 2012.
