ESTABLISHMENTOFAIIMS IN UDAIPUR

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE be pleasedtostate:
(a) the number of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) established in the country,
along with their respective dates of approval, selection, criteria, rules and eligibility guidelines,
State-wise;
(b) whether it is a fact that due to the lack of super-specialty healthcare facilities in the Udaipur
Division of Rajasthan (comprising Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara and Pratapgarh), patients
sufferingfrom severe ailmentsare forcedtotraveltootherStates or majorcitiesfor treatment;
(c)if so the detailsthereof;
(d) whether the Government proposes to grant approvalfor the establishment of an AIIMS in the
Udaipur Division; and
(e)if so, the timeline fixedfor the same andif not,the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e) The Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) aims to correct regional
imbalances in the availability of affordable/ reliable tertiary healthcare services and also to
augment facilities for quality medical education in the country.Under PMSSY, till date
establishment of 22 All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has been approved in
various States/UTs in the country including one AIIMS at Jodhpur in Rajasthan, which is
functional. Details of AIIMS is at Annexure-I. Further, for strengthening and upgrading of
tertiary healthcare facilities in Rajasthan, under another component of PMSSY, the upgradation
of following Government Medical Collegeshave beenapprovedby way of construction of Super
Speciality Blocks (SSBs)on Centre-State cost sharing basis: (i) RNTMedical College, Udaipur ,
(ii) Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner, (iii) Government Medical College, Jaipur, (iv)
Government Medical College, Kota. Under PMSSY, there is no proposal for establishment of an
AIIMS inUdaipur, Rajasthan.Under National Health Mission, this Ministry provides financial and technical support to the
States/UTs to strengthen theirhealthcare systems based on the Programme Implementation Plans
(PIPs)submitted bythe States/UTswithin theiroverallresource envelope.Till date,anamountof
₹ 10,570.41 crore has been released to the State of Rajasthan from FY 2020-21 to 2024-25.
Further, under Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM)
establishment of Critical Care Blocks (CCBs) have been approved for 33 districts of Rajasthan
including 50 bedded CCBs one each in Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh
