GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1376 TO BE ANSWERED ON 27.07.2026 ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ESI HOSPITAL AT TANDUR 1376. SHRI KONDA VISHWESHWAR REDDY: Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state: (a)whether the Government has received any proposal or representation from the State Government of Telangana, public representatives, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), workers' organizations, industry associations or any other stakeholder for the establishment of an Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Hospital at Tandur in Vikarabad district of Telangana; (b)if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government thereon; (c)whether the Government is aware that Tandur is a major cement manufacturing hub with several large cement industries, including Cement Corporation of India, employing a large number of workers covered under the ESI Scheme to facilitate insured workers and their families; and (d)whether the Government proposes to establish an ESI Hospital at Tandur and if so, the details and timeline thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a) to (d): A representation dated 03.10.2015 was received from the then Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Shri Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, regarding provision of ESI medical facilities for factory employees at Tandur, now in Vikarabad district, Telangana. ESIC Headquarters accorded in-principle approval in 2018 for establishment of a 2-doctor ESI Dispensary at Tandur. However, as the Government of Telangana could not operationalise the dispensary, the in-principle approval has since been withdrawn on 20.02.2026. The Insured Persons and their dependants are presently availing primary medical care through ESIS Dispensary, Sadasivapeta and ESIC DCBO, Sadasivapeta. Contd..2/-:: 2 :: The number of Insured Persons (IPs) in Vikarabad district is 757 as on 31.03.2025, which does not meet the prescribed ESIC norms for establishment of an ESI Hospital. Accordingly, there is no proposal at present to establish an ESI Hospital at Tandur. *****
