Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION
be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Government has set up a high-level committee/task
force to probe the crash of Air India plane AI-171 in Ahmedabad and
to suggest “comprehensive guidelines” to respond to aviation
accidents against the backdrop of the said crash;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the present status of the said
committee and the action taken on its reports till date;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the time by which such a
committee would be set up to prepare a roadmap to prevent
accidents and ensure compensation to the victim families;
(d) whether it is a fact that the said committee would focus on
formulating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for preventing
and handling such occurrences in the future and publish its report
within three months and if so, the details thereof;
(e) whether it is also true that the proposed committee would not
substitute other inquiries being conducted by relevant organizations
and if so, the details thereof; and(f) whether there was any lack of rescue operations when the air
crash took place on 12.6.2025 in Ahmedabad which prompted the
Government to constitute such a panel and if so, the details
thereof?

(a) to (f): A High-Level Committee was constituted on 13.06.2025
under the chairmanship of the Union Home Secretary to suggest
comprehensive guidelines for dealing with such instances in the
future post Air India Flight AI-171 incident. The Committee is to
submit its report within three months.
The key objectives of the Committee are given below:;
1) Recommend necessary improvements and formulate suitable SOP
to prevent such incidents in the future.
2) Suggest policy changes, operational improvements and training
enhancements required to prevent such occurrences and handle
post-crash incident situation.
3) Assess emergency response of various stakeholders (both
Central and State Governments), including rescue operations, and
coordination among them.

High-Level Committee has been constituted to suggest
comprehensive guidelines for dealing with such instances in the
future. The Committee will not be a substitute to other enquiries
being conducted by relevant organisations but will focus on
formulating SOPs for preventing and handling such occurrences in
