Establishment of New NITTTR Centre in Tamil Nadu
2605. Thiru D M Kathir Anand:
Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to establish any new National Institute of Technical
Teachers Training and Research (NITTTRs) Centre in the State of Tamil Nadu;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of the proposed location, timeline for establishment and funds earmarked for
setting up such NITTTRs Centre in the said State?

(a) to (c): The National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTRs) are
autonomous institutions under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, located at
Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai and Kolkata. The NITTTRs also operate extension centres to
expand their outreach for teachers training, curriculum development and related academic
support. At present, NITTTR Chennai caters to the needs of Tamil Nadu and neighbouring States
through its main campus in Chennai and extension centres located at Bengaluru, Hyderabad,
Vijayawada, and Kalamassery.
