(a) & (b): As reported by States/UTs on Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) portal, 1,81,873
AAMs have been operationalized across the country by strengthening Sub Health Centres
(SHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs), including 608 AAMs in Shahdol Lok Sabha
Constituency of Madhya Pradesh,ason 30.11.2025.
The AAMs incrementally provide 12 package of primary health care services across urban,
rural and tribal dominated areas including Shahdol Lok Sabha Constituency, encompassing
Reproductive and child care services, Communicable diseases, Non Communicable diseases
(NCD), Palliative Care and elderly Care, Care for common mental disorders, neurological
conditions (epilepsy, dementia) and substance use disorders management (tobacco, alcohol,
drugs), Oral health, ENT care, and Basic emergency care. To complement the expanded
services, the essential list of drugs & diagnostics has been expanded to make available 172
drugs & 63diagnosticsat PHC-AAMs and106drugs & 14diagnosticsat SHC-AAMs.
The teleconsultation services, available at all operational AAMs across the country including
Shahdol Lok Sabha Constituency, enables people to access the specialist services closer to
theirhomesaddressing concernsof physical accessibility,shortage of service providersandto
facilitate continuum of care. Total teleconsultations conducted at AAMs are 41.93 crore, as
on30.11.2025.Beyond the management of illnesses, promotive and preventive health is an integral part of
comprehensive primary health care. Wellness-related activities like Yoga, cycling, and
meditation are conducted in AAMs. As on 30.11.2025, a total of 6.54crore wellness sessions
have beenconductedat AAMs.
AAMs are equippedwith the required resources including upgraded infrastructure, additional
human resource, essential drugs & diagnostics, Information Technology (IT) systems, etc. to
provide twelve packages of primary health care services across the country including tribal
andremote areas.
The National Health Mission (NHM) provides support for improvement in health
infrastructure, availability of adequate human resources in health facilities, to improve
availability, affordability and accessibility to quality health care especially for the poor and
vulnerable sections in urban, rural, and tribal/hilly and remote areas. The Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare provides technical and financial support to the States/UTs to strengthen
the public healthcare system, based on the proposals received in the form of Programme
Implementation Plans (PIPs) under NHM. Government of India provides approval for the
proposals inthe form of Recordof Proceedings (RoPs) aspernorms& availableresources.
Under NHM, norms have been relaxed for tribal/hilly/hard-to-reach areas to strengthen
healthcare access. Population criteria for setting up of SHCs, PHCs and Community Health
Centres (CHCs) have been reduced to 3,000, 20,000 and 80,000 respectively. One ASHA is
allowed per habitation instead of per 1,000 population, and up to 4 Mobile Medical Units
(MMUs) per district are permitted in tribal and hard-to-reach areas, compared to 2 in plain
districts.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), launched
on 15th November, 2023 by Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), further relaxation in NHM
norms has been provided up to 10 MMUs per district with Particularly Vulnerable Tribal
Groups (PVTG) areas. Norms have been relaxed for one additional Auxiliary Nurse Midwife
(ANM) for each Multi Purpose Centre (MPC) constructed by MoTA. As per MMU portal,
751 MMUs under PM-JANMAN and155 MMUs under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh
Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) are operationalacross the countryfor providingbasic health services in
tribal areastill 30.11.2025.
