EXPANSION OF HINDON AIRPORT

Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION
be pleased to state:-
(a) the details of the total funds allocated and utilised for the expansion of
terminal capacity and connectivity infrastructure at Hindon Airport so far;
(b) whether the Government has received any requests from local
stakeholders for the early commencement of pending air services and if so, the
details thereof along with the action taken in this regard;
(c) the steps being taken to improve last-mile connectivity to Hindon Airport
through integration with metro, RRTS or bus services to facilitate passenger
access;
(d) whether the Government is exploring partnerships with additional airlines
to operate the pending flights; and
(e) if so, the details thereof along with the specific timelines fixed and targeted
cities identified for these new services?

(a) and (b): During the 2nd round of bidding under the Regional Connectivity
Scheme - Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN), Hindon airport, owned by
the Indian Air Force, was identified for the development of a Civil Enclave
and to operate RCS flights. Hindon airport was developed at the cost of
Rs.46.60 Crores and operationalized on 11.10.2019 under the UDAN scheme.
Hindon airport is currently connected to Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai,
Kolkata, Goa, Indore, Chennai, Patna, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur,
Adampur, Kishangarh, Nanded, Bathinda and Ludhiana.
(c): The State Government and the Airport Advisory Committee coordinate to
facilitate seamless passenger connectivity to Hindon Airport through Metro,
RRTS or bus services.(d) to (e) : With the repeal of Air Corporation Act in March 1994, Indian
domestic aviation has been deregulated. Airlines are free to induct capacity
with any aircraft type, free to select whatever markets and network they wish
to service depending on market demand and their operational and
commercial viability.
