Will the Ministerof HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate:
(a) the expenditure incurred by the Government on treatment in Ayushman Arogya Mandirs
inthe Country so far, State-wise;
(b) the numberof Ayushman Arogya Mandirs likelytobe set upacross the Country; and
(c) the qualification requirements fixed for the staff working in Ayushman Arogya Mandirs
alongwith the kindof facilities providedtherein?
ANSWER

(a) to (c): In February 2018,the Government of India announced 1,50,000 AyushmanArogya
Mandirs (AAMs) to be established by strengthening the existing Sub- Health Centres (SHC)
and Primary Health Centres (PHC) across the country. As reported by States/UTs on AAM
portal,a totalof 1.84 lakh AAMshave been operationalizedinthe country.
The AAMs incrementally provide 12 package of primary health care services across urban,
rural and tribal dominated areas, encompassing Reproductive and child care services,
Communicable diseases, Non Communicable diseases (NCD), Palliative Care and elderly
Care, Care for common mental disorders, neurological conditions (epilepsy, dementia) and
substance use disorders management (tobacco, alcohol, drugs), Oral health, ENT care, and
Basic emergency care. To complement the expanded services, the essential list of drugs &
diagnostics has been expanded to make available 300 drugs & 97 diagnostics at Community
Health Centres (CHCs), 172 drugs & 63 diagnostics at PHC-AAMs and 106 drugs & 14
diagnosticsat SHC-AAMs inthe country.
The State/UT wise, State Programme Implementation Plans (SPIPs) approval and
expenditure for operationalization of AAMs underNHM in2024-25 isgiveninAnnexure.
Community Health Officer (CHO) at AAM-SHC is a Nurse (GNM or B.Sc) or an Ayurveda
practitioner, trained and certified in six months Certificate program in Community Health
through IGNOU/other State Public Health/Medical Universities for a set of competencies in
delivering public health and primary health care services. Nursing graduate with integrated
B.Sc Nursing/ Post Basic B.Sc Nursing programme (integrated with Community Health
programme) are also selected for the position of CHO. At the AAM-PHC, the qualification of
Medical Officer and other PHC staff is as per Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS).
