M.THAMBIDURAI: Will the Ministerof HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate: (a) the total number of sanctioned faculty posts at all AIIMS institutions in the country and the current numberof vacancies; (b) whether Government is aware of the recent high court observations regarding chronic facultyshortages anditsadverse impact onmedicalcare andeducation; (c)the reasons for these vacancies persisting andthe steps takentoexpediterecruitment;and (d) a timeline for filling these posts to ensure adequate healthcare services across all AIIMS centres? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a)to(d): Details of sanctioned, in-position and vacant faculty posts in various All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are at Annexure. Creation of posts and recruitment is a continuous process. Filling up of vacant faculty position is contingent on various factors including availability of suitable/eligible/qualified doctors/health professionals, reservation roster, location of the Institute etc. The following special measures have been takentoexpeditiouslyfill vacantpositions inAIIMS: (i) Standing Selection Committee has been constituted in each Institute as per the provision of theirrespective Act for selectionof facultyetc. (ii) Provision has been made for engagement of retired faculty at the level of Professor, Additional Professor and Associate Professor, on contract basis, in new AIIMS, up to the age of 70 years from Institutes of National Importance (INIs) and Government Medical Colleges (GMCs). (iii) Visiting Faculty Scheme has been formulated to allow Professors, Additional Professors and Associate Professors, who are holding academic positions in Government Institutions within India or academic institutions outside India, to be the Visiting Faculty in newAIIMS for teachingpurposes.(iv) Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) is conducted by AIIMS Delhi for recruitmentof Nursing Officers for variousAIIMS. (v) Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) in 2025 was conducted by AIIMS Delhi twice inthe yearfor recruitment toGroup B andC non-facultypositions for variousAIIMS.
