(a): Department of Health Research (DHR) runs many components under the Central Sector scheme
‘Human Resource Development (HRD) for Health Research’ including Short-Term and Long-Term
fellowships. The total number of fellowships awarded under Short/Long Term Indian and Short/Long
Term Abroad during the last five yearsisdetailedinAnnexure.
(b) and(c): DHR also runs ‘Support to institutions and scientific professionals/bodies/associations’
Program under its HRD scheme, through which selected domestic Institutions are supported for providing
training to selected candidates. Support is also imparted to the institutions for developing online courses
along with contact Programmes in relevant institutions/ online resource material for researchers/ online
mentoring for researchers or Interactive forums and e-groups for researchers in the area of
biomedical/health research.In the last five years (2020-21 to 2024-25), a total of 33 Medical Colleges/ Institutions have
received infrastructure support. These include one institute in Andhra Pradesh, namely Raghavendra
Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Chiyyudu, Anantapuram, in which a project has been
sanctioned for a budget of Rs. 68.99 Lakhs. Also, these includes two Institutes from Uttar Pradesh namely
Indian Council of Medical Research -National Institute for Cancer Prevention and Research (ICMR-
NICPR), Noida, andAll India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raebareli, wherein grants of Rs. 2.97
Crores (for 5 different projects) and Rs. 78.79 Lakhs (for 1 project) respectively have been sanctioned.
