(a) the number of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) delivered under the Jal
Jeevan Mission (JJM) as on July, 2025, State-wise;
(b) the percentage of coverage achieved in water-stressed districts like Banaskantha and Kutch;
and
(c) the average service level benchmarks (LPCD, quality and reliability) in these regions?

(a) to (c) Since August 2019, Government of India in partnership with States is implementing Jal
Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Har Ghar Jal to make provision of potable water to every rural household of
the country, including those in water-stressed districts like Banaskantha and Kutch, through
functional tap water connection i.e. at a service level of 55 litre per capita per day (lpcd), of
prescribed quality (BIS:10500), on regular and long-term basis.
At the start the Mission, only 3.23 Crore (16.7%) rural households were reported to have tap water
connections. So far, as reported by States/ UTs as on 28.07.2025, under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) –
Har Ghar Jal more than 12.44 Crore additional rural households have been provided with tap water
connections. Thus, as on 28.07.2025, out of 19.36 Crore rural households in the country, more than
15.67 Crore (80.96%) households are reported to have tap water supply in their homes. State/ UT-
wise details are annexed.
