ANSWER MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) The ‘Scheme for Financial Assistance for setting up of Multipurpose Complex’ (MPCC) for grant of financial assistance to State Governments/State-sponsored bodies for setting up Art and Cultural Complexes to work as centres of excellence in creative arts, was introduced in the VIIIth Five Year Plan (1992-1997). The scheme has been discontinued with effect from 01.04.2007.The erstwhile MPCCscheme was revamped and reintroduced in the name of Shri Rabindranath Tagore, called TagoreCultural Complexes (TCC) Scheme w.e.f. 07.05.2011 to facilitate the settingup of new cultural complexes of varying scales. The scheme also support upgradation,modernization and modification of the existing Rabindra Auditoria into state-of-the-art culturalcomplexes.
