Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the funds allocated to State Governments/State Sponsored Bodies under the
Scheme for Financial Assistance for setting up of Multipurpose Cultural Complexes by
the Government under Eighth Five Year Plan and Tenth Five year Plan during the last
five years of the respective plan;
(b) the details of financial assistance provided by the Government to the State
Governments/State Sponsored Bodies in North Gujarat including Mehsana Lok Sabha
Constituency under the said Scheme; and
(c) whether the Government has received any proposals from the State Governments/State
Sponsored Bodies for financial assistance/grants for renovation of cultural complexes
and if so, the details thereof with regard to North Gujarat including Mehsana Lok Sabha
constituency?

(a) The ‘Scheme for Financial Assistance for setting up of Multipurpose Complex’ (MPCC)
for grant of financial assistance to State Governments/State-sponsored bodies for setting up
Art and Cultural Complexes to work as centres of excellence in creative arts, was
introduced in the VIIIth Five Year Plan (1992-1997). The scheme has been discontinued
with effect from 01.04.2007.The erstwhile MPCCscheme was revamped and reintroduced in the name of Shri
Rabindranath Tagore, called TagoreCultural Complexes (TCC) Scheme w.e.f. 07.05.2011 to
facilitate the settingup of new cultural complexes of varying scales. The scheme also
support upgradation,modernization and modification of the existing Rabindra Auditoria into
state-of-the-art culturalcomplexes.

five years is given below:-
