FORMATION AND FUNCTIONING OF FPOs IN BELAGAVI DISTRICT
1606. SHRI IRANNA KADADI:
Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) formed in Belagavi district under
the central sector scheme;
(b) the details of the FPOs engaged in the value addition of millets and pulses;
(c) the status of the credit linkage and equity grant support provided to these FPOs;
(d) the measures taken to link the FPOs with the e-NAM platform for better market access; and
(e) Government's plan to set up Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs) through FPOs?
ANSWER

(SHRI RAMNATH THAKUR)
(a): 21 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) have been formed in Belagavi district of
Karnataka under the Central Sector Scheme for Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs.
(b): FPOs of Belagavi district are presently engaged in aggregation, primary handling and sale of
their agricultural commodities, including cereals, pulses, oilseeds, sugarcane, horticultural crops
and other farm produce. FPO-wise details of primary and secondary crops handled are furnished in
Annexure.
(c): 17 FPOs of Belagavi district have been provided ₹1.80 crore as Equity Grant under the
scheme and 4 eligible FPOs have been sanctioned credit linkage with total sanctioned amount of
₹34.48 lakh.
(d): 10 FPOs of Belagavi district have been onboarded on the National Agriculture Market (e-
NAM) platform. FPOs are supported through facilitation of e-NAM registration, capacity building,
and training on online bidding through e-NAM platform.
(e): Government is promoting establishment of Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs) through Sub-
Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM) and Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF). Under
SMAM beneficiaries including FPOs are eligible for capital subsidy support. Under AIF, FPOs can
avail institutional credit for setting up CHCs with interest subvention and credit guarantee support,
as per scheme guidelines.Annexure
