The Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, responded that almost all railway stations across Indian Railways have 4G/5G coverage provided by Telecom Service Providers, utilized by passengers for data connectivity. Additionally, free Wi-Fi services have been provided at 6117 railway stations across Indian Railway, including 569 stations in Maharashtra and 405 stations in Madhya Pradesh.

(b) whether the Government proposes to provide free Wi-Fi services and
to expand this facility to more stations in the country, particularly in
rural and remote areas of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh;
(c) if so, the timeline fixed and target set in this regard;
(d) the budget allocated and utilised for the installation and maintenance
of free Wi-Fi facility at railway stations during the last five years
along with the details of other funding sources such as private
participation/ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative;
(e) the State-wise breakdown for Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh; and
(f) if there is no such plan, the reasons therefor?
