Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state:
(a) the details of implementation of the Project Tiger across the country, State/UT-wise;
(b) the details of the funds allocated, sanctioned and utilised for this Project during the last ten
years and the current year, State/UT-wise;
(c) whether the allocation of annual fund for Project Tiger is reduced, if so, the details thereof
along with the reasons therefor;
(d) the impact of the said reduction on the conservation activities and the protection of tigers;
and
(e) whether the Government proposes to sanction additional funds, as per requirement, to ensure
the continued success of the project?

(a) Project Tiger is being implemented as a component of the umbrella Centrally Sponsored
Scheme of Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats (IDWH) in 18 tiger range States in the
country. The Project Elephant Scheme was merged with Project Tiger from the financial year
2023-24.
(b) to (e) The details of budget allocation under the Project Tiger component of IDWH Scheme
may be seen at Annexure-I. The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) secures funds
under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for Project Tiger every finance commission and
disburses them to the concerned States. The concerned States also contribute to the project. The
achievements under the ‘Project Tiger’ have been quite substantial in the recent years, which have
contributed in increase in population of tigers in the country, ensuring success of the project.
