Funds sanctioned under GIM
5791. SHRI JASWANTSINH SUMANBHAI BHABHOR:
Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to
state:
(a) whether the Government is making special efforts to bridge the gap in plantation
targets under the National Mission for a Green India (GIM) in the forest areas of
Dahod, specifically for the period between 2015 and 2025 and if so, the details
thereof;
(b) the total amount of funds sanctioned so far under the Nagar Van Yojana for the urban
and semi-urban areas of the Dahod Lok Sabha Constituency; and
(c) whether the Government proposes to increase the number of air quality monitoring
stations in regions, like Dahod to achieve the target of a 40 per cent reduction in
PM10 emission by the end of 2026 and if so, the details thereof?

(a) The National Mission for a Green India (GIM) is one of the nine Missions under the
National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) and aims to protect, restore and
enhance forest and tree cover while contributing to climate change mitigation and
adaptation through plantation and ecosystem restoration in identified landscapes. Under
GIM, activities are undertaken based on the approved Perspective Plans and Annual
Plans of Operation submitted by the respective States and approved by the National
Executive Council. The State of Gujarat has not submitted the Perspective Plan under
GIM and also no specific proposal for bridging plantation gaps in Dahod district for the
period 2015-2025 has been received by the State Government.
(b) The Ministry is implementing Nagar Van Yojana (NVY) which envisages developing 600
Nagar Vans and 400 Nagar Vatikas in the country during the period of 2020-21 to 2026-
27 with an objective to significantly enhance the tree outside forests and green cover,
enhancement of biodiversity and ecological benefits to the urban and peri-urban areas
apart from improving quality of life of city dwellers. Based on the proposals submitted
by State Government, the Ministry releases funds from National Authority of CAMPA to
cover mainly the cost of fencing, soil- moisture conservation measures & related
activities, administrative activities, plantation and maintenance. The Ministry, so far, has
not received any proposal from State Government for the urban and semi-urban areas of
the Dahod Lok Sabha Constituency.(c) The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), in collaboration with State Pollution
Control Boards (SPCBs), operates the National Air Quality Monitoring Programme
(NAMP) for monitoring ambient air quality across the country. Installation of new air
quality monitoring stations is undertaken based on population, pollution levels, and
feasibility in consultation with the concerned State Government. Presently, air quality
monitoring is carried out by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and State Pollution
Control Boards (SPCB) in 551 cities in the Country including Dahod. However,
expansion of monitoring infrastructure is a continuous process and is taken up as per
requirement and availability of resources.
