GATI SHAKTI MULTI-MODEL CARGO TERMINALS
6063. SHRI BALASHOWRY VALLABHANENI:
Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is true that 16 Gati Shakti Multi-Model Cargo Terminals have
been approved in Andhra Pradesh and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the details of each of the GCT approved in Andhra Pradesh,
location/station-wise;
(c) the time by which each of the above 16 GCTs approved, terminal-wise;
(d) whether as per GCT policy concerned agencies have to complete
construction within 24 months of granting in-principle approval and if
so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether the identified GCTs in the said State are going to complete
within the 24 months time and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) : In order to encourage setting up of cargo terminals through
private investment, ‘Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal (GCT)’ policy has
been launched. Location of the GCTs is decided on the basis of demand from
industry, potential of Cargo traffic, availability of railway infrastructure and
overall logistics potential of the area.
With regards to Andhra Pradesh, so far 5 GCTs have been commissioned and
further, in-principle approvals (IPAs) for 20 more locations have been given
for GCTs proposals. The detail of identified locations, where in-principle
approvals (IPAs) have been given in Andhra Pradesh are as under -

Page 2 of 3As per the provisions of the GCT policy, the agencies are expected to
implement/complete the construction within twenty four (24) months of
grant of final (Engineering Scale Plan) approval for commencement of
construction. However, the completion of any project depends on several
factors such as land acquisition, forest clearance and other statutory
clearances etc.
So far, a total of 128 GCTs have been commissioned across the country
(including 5 in Andhra Pradesh).
