(a) whether any works are being carried out/going on under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana component
of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Murshidabad Lok Sabha Constituency of West Bengal; and
(b) if so, the details and the current status thereof along with the funds spent thereon?

(a) and (b) Since August 2019, Government of India is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)
in partnership with States including West Bengal to make provision of tap water supply to
every rural household. Water is a State subject and therefore, the primary responsibility for
planning and implementing piped water supply schemes to provide tap water to rural
households, lies with the respective State/UT.
As reported by State Govt. of West Bengal, in Murshidabad District, at the start of Jal Jeevan
Mission in August 2019, only 166 rural households were reported to have tap water connection.
As on 28.07.2025, around 7,20,556 additional rural households have been reported to have
been provided with tap water connection in the Murshidabad District, West Bengal out of total
16,78,493 rural households in the district.
Under JJM, this Department releases funds to States/UTs only. Further, district-wise fund
allocations are made and maintained by State/UTs only and not by this Department.
