GOVERNMENT OFINDIA MINISTRYOFHEALTHAND FAMILYWELFARE DEPARTMENT OFHEALTHAND FAMILYWELFARE LOK SABHA UNSTARREDQUESTION NO. 3228 TO BE ANSWERED ON07TH AUGUST,2026 HEARTAND LIVER TRANSPLANTSERVICES 3228.SHRIRAJEEVRAI: Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE be pleasedtostate: a) whether the Government is aware of reports that heart transplant and/or liver transplant services at AIIMS, New Delhi have been disrupted, suspended or significantlycurtailed due to shortage of faculty or other reasons, if so, the details thereof, including the period of such disruption and if not, the reasons therefor; (b) the number of heart transplants and liver transplants performed at AIIMS, New Delhi during each of the last five years, year-wise; (c) the number of patients presently on the waiting list for heart transplantation and liver transplantation at AIIMS, New Delhi, along with the number of surgeries deferred or cancelled during the last three years, year-wise; and (d) the timeline by which the Government expects full transplant services to function at optimal capacity? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) There has been no disruption or suspension of heart and liver transplant services in AIIMS, New Delhi. (b) Thenumberofheartandlivertransplantsperformedduringthe lastfive yearsisasunder: - Sl.No. Year Heart Transplant LiverTransplant 1. 2021 02 00 2. 2022 06 04 3. 2023 05 07 4. 2024 06 03 5. 2025 00 04 (c) At present, there are 02 patients for hearttransplantation and11 patients for liver transplantation in the active waiting list at AIIMS, New Delhi. No transplant surgeries were deferred or cancelled during the lastthree years. (d) Transplant services are functional at AIIMS, New Delhi. The effectiveness of these services dependson multiple factorsincludingdonororganavailabilityandrecipientsuitability. *****
