Parliament Question: HIV/AIDS Prevention Programme

SHRIBALWANTBASWANTWANKHADE Will the Ministerof HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtoState: (a) the details of projects affected by the 2025 funding cuts under USAID/United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) support towards HIV/AIDS prevention inthe country, State/UT-wise andproject-wise; (b) the estimated number of beneficiaries affected under such projects, including key populations such as adolescents, transgender persons and people suffering with HIV, State/UT- wise and; (c) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Union Government to sustain beneficiary support provided under such projects, including Project (ACCELERATE) after the reduction or withdrawal of externalsupport?; ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SMT. ANUPRIYAPATEL) (a) to (c) The National AIDS Control Programme is a fully domestic funded Central Sector Scheme with around 5% contribution through the Global Fund Grant for HIV/AIDS. The Government of India provides free prevention, testing and treatment services under the National AIDSandSTDControl Programme. NACO has not received any funding support from USAID/PEPFAR. The funding cuts in the USAID/PEPFAR support towards HIV/AIDS prevention inthe country hasnot impacted service provision for prevention, testing and treatment to High Risk Populations,at-risk populations and Peoplelivingwith HIV underthe National AIDS andSTDControl Programme. The National AIDS and STD Control Programme collaborates with international organisations, bilateral and multilateral partner agencies including erstwhile USAID in technical areas including sharing of best practices andinnovations, training and capacitybuilding for improving HIVmanagement cascade tomeetIndia’sSDGcommitments. *****
