HOUSEHOLDS WITH FHTCs IN JAUNPUR DISTRICT

Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) the number of households in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh provided with Functional
Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) as on 30 June, 2025;
(b) the total budget allocated, expenditure incurred and unutilised funds under JJM in Jaunpur
district since its inception;
(c) the timeline fixed for achieving 100% coverage of FHTCs in Jaunpur Lok Sabha
Constituency;
(d) the details of FHTCs provided in Jaunpur district including percentage of coverage
achieved;
(e) the details of water quality tests conducted in Jaunpur district during 2024-25 including the
number of samples found contaminated; and
(f) the details of habitations in Uttar Pradesh identified as having water quality issues such as
arsenic, fluoride and bacterial contamination, district-wise along with the remedial actions
taken/likely to be taken to address these issues?

(a) Since August 2019, Government of India in partnership with States/UTs is implementing
Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Har Ghar Jal to make provision of potable water to every rural
household of the country through functional tap connection. At the start of the mission, only
3.23 crore (16.71%) rural households were reported to have tap water connections. With
concerted efforts from both Centre and States/UTs under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Har Ghar
Jal around 12.44 crore additional rural households have been reported to have been provided
with tap water connections. Thus, as on 28.07.2025, out of 19.36 crore rural households in the
country, more than 15.67 crore (80.96%) households are reported to have tap water supply in
their homes.
At the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission, in Uttar Pradesh, 5.16 Lakh rural
households were reported to have tap water connections. Since then, around 235.78 Lakh
additional rural households have been provided with tap water connections in the State. Thus,
as on 28.07.2025, out of 267.21 Lakh rural households in the State, around 240.95 Lakh
(90.17%) households are reported to have tap water supply in their homes.

JJM, 2.58 Thousand rural households were reported to have tap water connections. Since then,
around 5.32 Lakh additional rural households in the district have been provided tap water
connections. Thus, as on 30.06.2025, out of total 5.93 Lakh rural households in the district,
around 5.34 Lakh (90.13%) rural households are reported to have tap water supply in their
homes.
(b State of Uttar Pradesh has informed that financial allocations and disbursement of funds is
for the entire state under JJM. No district wise funds are allocated. The fund utilized in Jaunpur
district under JJM is Rs. 1909.597 Crores.
(c) The State Government has informed that 100 percent saturation of Jaunpur district is
targeted by December 2028.
(d) As informed by the State of Uttar Pradesh, the details of FHTCs provided in Jaunpur district
including percentage of coverage, block wise are available as below:

(e) During 2024-25, total number of 43,835 samples have been tested, and total number of 7
samples have been found contaminated in Jaunpur district as informed by the State of Uttar
Pradesh.
(f) Under JJM, while planning water supply schemes to provide tap water supply to households,
priority is given to quality-affected habitations. While allocating the funds to States/ UTs in a
particular financial year, 10% weightage is given to the population residing in habitations
affected by chemical contaminants including arsenic and fluoride.
State Government of UP has informed that there is no quality affected habitation in UP, at

Moreover, as per the operational guidelines for implementation of JJM, States/ UTs are to take
corrective actions in case of major water quality contamination, and if required, to alert Health
Department for mitigation and/ or corrective actions especially in Arsenic, Fluoride, Uranium
contaminants and bacteriological contaminations.
