**Summary:**
In response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 3060, addressed on August 7, 2025, regarding the impact of flight cancellations on air travel, the Ministry of Civil Aviation provides the following information.
**(a)** The number of flights cancelled or rescheduled by Indian airlines in 2025 due to regulatory or technical issues and foreign Governmental disturbance, country and airline-wise are as follows: Air India (662), Indigo (1017), Akasa Air (18), Spicejet (334), and Air India Express (427).
**(b)** Flight cancellations and reschedulings lead to increased operational costs for airlines, including expenses related to additional fuel, crew overtime, maintenance, airport fees, and passenger rebooking. Airlines are obligated to provide refunds or compensation to passengers affected by cancellations or significant delays. Despite these disruptions, passenger traffic on domestic airlines from January to June 2025 demonstrated a growth of 7.34% compared to the same period in the previous year.
**(c)** To assist passengers affected by flight cancellations, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has implemented Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, which outlines the facilities airlines must provide to passengers in cases of denied boarding, flight cancellations, and delays.

traffic and airline revenues; and
(c) the measures being taken to ensure continuation of operations
and to assist passengers affected by cancelled and rescheduled
international flights?

(a): The details of airline-wise number of flights
cancelled/rescheduled due to regulatory issues and geopolitical
issues for the year 2025 are at Annexure. ;
(b): Airlines incur costs due to delays and cancellations, including
additional fuel, crew overtime, maintenance, airport fees, and
rebooking expenses. Further, Airlines are required to provide
refunds or compensation to passengers for cancellations or
significant delays.;Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-June 2025
registered a growth of 7.34 % as compared to the corresponding
period of the previous year.
(c): In the event of flight cancellations, DGCA has issued Civil
Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV titled as
"Facilities to be provided to passengers by airlines due to denied
boarding, cancellation of flights and delays in flights".
