(a): National Health Authority (NHA) regularly conducts review meetings with State Health
Agencies to monitor the implementation of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya
Yojana (AB-PMJAY), review key performance indicators, identify implementation
challenges, and ensure effective implementation of the scheme. As on 30.06.2026, a total of
22.15lakhAyushman cardshave beencreatedinthe Pune district.(b): During 01.04.2023 to 30.06.2026 a total of 18.30 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued
whereas the number of hospital admissions were 3.34 lakh and claims settled were 2.43 lakh
inPunedistrict.
(c): As on 30.06.2026, a total of 353 hospitals are empanelled in Pune district, comprising
181 government hospitals and 172 private hospitals. The details of the empanelled hospitals
canbe accessed at: https://hem.nha.gov.in/search
Under AB-PMJAY, hospital empanelment is a continuous process and is undertaken by the
implementing State/UT based on the requirements and availability of healthcare providers
meeting the criteria within a given State/UT as per empanelment guidelines of National
HealthAuthority (NHA). As on30.06.2026, a totalof 37,413hospitals have beenempanelled
under the scheme across the country, including 17,265 private hospitals. Further, to enhance
the participation of healthcare providers, particularly in rural and underserved areas, NHA
regularly reviews the status of hospital empanelment with State Health Agencies (SHA),
conductssensitization meetingswith hospitals andhealthcareprovidernetworks, andengages
with concerned stakeholders to facilitate the empanelment of eligible hospitals under the
scheme.
(d): NHAand SHAshave undertaken several measures in districts including Pune toimprove
Ayushman card saturation, such as “Aapke Dwar Ayushman” campaign, door-to-door
mobilisationbyfrontline workers, and support through Common ServiceCentresetc.
The scheme has a comprehensive media and outreach strategy to spread awareness and
empower beneficiaries. This includes advertisement over various media platforms including
newspapers, community radio, street plays, digital displays, radio campaigns, mass
messaging, telecastof beneficiary testimonialsetc.
(e): Under the scheme, settlement of claims is a regular and uninterrupted process and claims
are settled by respective SHAs as per claim adjudication guidelines issued by NHA. Further,
for timely settlement of claims, the permissible turnaround time is within 15 days of claim
submission for intra-state hospitals (hospitals located within the State) and within 30 days of
claimsubmission incase of portability claims(hospitals locatedoutside the State).
The scheme is implemented through a robust end-to-end digital platform that enables timely
and efficient delivery of healthcare services. Further, Aadhaar-based authentication is
mandatory at the time of availing treatment to enable transparent, secure, and digital
authorizationof healthcare services.
