ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a): The Government of India launched the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) in the year 2007-08 with the aim to reduce tobacco consumption and minimize the health burden caused by tobacco-related diseases. Currently the program is implemented in all 36 StatesandUTs coveringmore than700districts. India has over 2,000 Tobacco Cessation Centres (TCCs) that have been established across the country under integrated efforts of NTCP, National Medical Commission (NMC) and National Dental Commission (NDC). Some of the key interventions and thrust areas underthe program are:  Setting-up and strengthening of cessation facilities including provision of pharmacologicaltreatment facilitiesat district level.  Training of health and social workers, NGOs, school teachers, and enforcement officers; Information,education,and communication(IEC) activities;  Organizes anannual60-dayTobacco-Free YouthCampaign;  Monitoring of tobaccocontrol laws; (b): Under NTCP funds are released to 03 (three) National Tobacco Testing Laboratories and 04 Tobacco Quit Line Centers.
