Dr. Mohammad Jawed: Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state: (a) the details of current status of implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the State of Bihar; (b) the total number of rural road projects sanctioned, completed and pending under PMGSY in Bihar during the last five years, district-wise; (c) the details of PMGSY projects sanctioned, completed and pending in Kishanganj district, along with the length of roads constructed and funds allocated and utilised; (d) whether there have been any delays in completion of PMGSY projects in Bihar particularly in Kishanganj, and (e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor along with the corrective measures taken by the Government in this regard? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI KAMLESH PASWAN) (a): Under various interventions/verticals of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), a total of 18,768 roads with length of 65,599 km & 2,094 bridges have been sanctioned in the State of Bihar at Value of Projects of Rs. 41,983 crore, out of which, 18,535 roads of length 62,503 km & 1,761 bridges have been completed at an expenditure (including State share) of Rs. 36,854 crore since inception till 19.03.2026. (b): The details of rural road projects sanctioned, completed and pending under PMGSY in the state of Bihar during the last five financial years, district-wise may be seen at https://pmgsy.dord.gov.in/dbweb=>Road and Bridge Status. Page 1 of 2(c) to (e): Since inception till 19.03.2026, 390 roads of length 2,027 km & 250 bridges have been sanctioned at Value of Projects of Rs. 1,951 crore, out of which, 366 roads of length 1,793 km & 222 bridges have been completed at an expenditure (including State share) of Rs. 1,645 crore in Kishanganj district in the state of Bihar under PMGSY. As on 19.03.2026, 24 roads of length 189 km & 28 bridges are pending for construction in Kishanganj district. The vertical-wise breakup of the pending works in Kishanganj district, is as under: Vertical No. of Roads Road Length No. of Bridges (km) PMGSY-I 0 0 1 PMGSY-III 24 189 27 Total 24 189 28 The timeline for completion of PMGSY-I is March 2027 & for PMGSY-III, it is March 2026. Further, the allocation of funds for implementation of PMGSY is based on the proposals received from the State/UT and depends, inter-alia, on works in hand, execution capacity of the State, and unspent balances of the previous release available with the State. Central share of funds are released to the States/UTs for implementation of the scheme and further, district/sub-district wise allocation is made by the States/UTs only. The progress of implementation of PMGSY works is regularly reviewed by the Ministry by way of Performance Review Committee (PRC) Meetings, Regional Review Meetings (RRMs) and Pre- Empowered/ Empowered Committee Meetings with the States (including State of Bihar). Besides the above, special review meetings/monthly review meetings are also held by the Secretary/Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development with Chief Secretaries/ Secretaries of the States. ***** Page 2 of 2
