Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) the status of implementation of the PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) in the country, with
particular reference to Andhra Pradesh;
(b) whether it is true that companies beyond top 500 are showing interest in participating
in the scheme;
(c) whether it is also true that CII, FICCI and other industry organisations reached out to
the Government in this regard and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) whether there are any plans to tweak the scheme to allow companies beyond the top
500 and if so, the details thereof?

(a): The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) was announced in the Budget 2024-25.
It aims to provide internship opportunities to one crore youth in top 500 companies in five
years. As an initiation to this scheme, Ministry of Corporate Affairs has launched a Pilot
Project of the scheme on 3rd October, 2024, which is targeted to provide 1.25 lakh
internship opportunities to the youth in one year.
In the round I of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, the partner companies posted
more than 1.27 lakh internship opportunities on the PMIS Portal across the country.
Against this, more than 6.21 lakh applications were received from about 1.81 lakh
candidates. Partner companies made over 82,000 internship offers to over 60,000candidates, out of which more than 28,000 candidates accepted offers to join the
internship, and over 8700 candidates joined their internship.
In the round II of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, which commenced on 9th
January, 2025, about 327 Partner Companies have posted over 1.18 lakh internship
opportunities (new and edited unfilled opportunities of previous round) across 735
districts of the country. Over 4.55 lakh applications were received from over 2.14 lakh
applicants, in this round. As on 06.08.2025, partner companies have made over 78,500
offers to the youth.
In round II, over 4,700 internship opportunities have been posted by the companies in the
state of Andhra Pradesh, and over 10,000 offers have been made by the companies to the
candidates from Andhra Pradesh. Currently, rolling out of offers and the process of
acceptances/ joining by interns is in progress.
(b) to (d): Under the scheme, top 500 companies have been identified by the Ministry on
the basis of their average CSR expenditure of the last three years. Apart from these, any
other company/ bank/ financial institution desirous of participating in the Scheme, may do
so with the approval of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), which would take a view
keeping in view under represented sectors and areas in the above mentioned 500
companies.
The Ministry is working in active collaboration with industry associations such as CII and
FICCI for the implementation of the Pilot Project.
