Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate:
(a) the current status of implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana
(PMSSY) in the country, including the number of AIIMS institutions and the
Government Medical College/Institution (GMCI) upgradation projects sanctioned,
completed,underconstruction and operationalasondate,State-wise;
(b) the details of funds sanctioned, released and utilised under PMSSY during each of the
last three years and the current year along with the present status of implementation of
the sanctionedprojects, State-wise;
(c) the details of the major infrastructure and healthcare facilities created under the
Government Medical College/Institution (GMCI) upgradation component, including
super-specialty blocks, additional beds, diagnostic and critical care facilities and other
keyinterventions; and
(d) whether the Government proposes to expand the coverage of PMSSY by sanctioning
additional AIIMS institutions and GMCI upgradation projects andif so, the detailsof the
proposals underconsiderationandthe timeline thereof?

(SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV)
(a) to (d) Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) aims to correct regional imbalances
in the availability of affordable/ reliable tertiary healthcare services and also to augment facilities
for qualitymedical educationin the country. The Scheme hastwo components; (1) Settingupof All
India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS); and (2)Upgrading existing Government Medical
Colleges/Institutions. The details of 22 AIIMS and 75 upgradation projects of GMCs approved
underthe scheme isplacedat Annexure-I andAnnexure-II respectively.The Budget allocatedtoandexpenditure incurredunder PMSSYduring the last three yearsand
the current yearisasbelow:
