GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 161 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 2nd February 2026 IMPLEMENTATION OF UDAN SCHEME 161. SHRI MAHARAJA SANAJAOBA LEISHEMBA Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) the progress status of UDAN scheme at present; (b) the number of routes in the North East sector are operational under UDAN scheme at present; and (c) factors responsible for not fulfilling the objectives of UDAN scheme? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a): As on 20.01.2026, a total of 657 routes have been operationalised, connecting 93 unserved and underserved airports, including 15 heliports and 2 water aerodromes carrying over 160 lakhs domestic passengers on more than 3.36 lakh RCS flights under the Regional Connectivity Scheme - Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN). (b): In the North Eastern sector 50 routes are currently operational under the UDAN scheme. (c): The Indian civil aviation sector has demonstrated strong and sustained growth, supported by an expanding airport network, rising passenger traffic and significant fleet orders placed by incumbent airlines among others, which is the core objective of UDAN. ******
