MEDHA VISHRAM KULKARNI: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) whether Government proposes to include Alandi in Maharashtra under any temple town or heritage city development initiative; (b) if so, the details of projects and financial assistance planned or sanctioned; (c) whether Government has assessed the need for improving civic infrastructure, riverfront development and pilgrim amenities in Alandi; and (d) if so, the timeline for implementation of such initiatives so as to benefit pilgrims, local residents and the regional economy? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (d): The development and promotion of tourist destinations and tourism products, is primarily undertaken by the respective State Government/ Union Territory (UT) Administration. The Ministry of Tourism, through its ongoing Central Sector Schemes of ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)’, ‘Swadesh Darshan (SD)’, ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD 2.0)’, ‘Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD)’ a sub-scheme of Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme supplements the efforts of the States/UTs by providing financial assistance for the development of tourism related infrastructure in consultation with them in the country including the State of Maharashtra. No proposal for tourism infrastructure development in Alandi is under consideration of the Ministry of Tourism. Receiving proposals from the State Governments/UT Administrations for financial assistance for tourism projects is a continuous process. The proposals received are examined with reference to the prescribed guidelines and financial assistance is extended for such projects subject to fulfilment of the stipulated conditions and availability of funds. However, the Ministry of Tourism, under its ongoing schemes, has sanctioned various projects in Maharashtra, which are given in the Annexure. ******ANNEXURE STATEMENT IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.4468 ANSWERED ON 02.04.2026 REGARDING IMPROVING AMENITIES IN ALANDI RAISED BY DR.
