THIRU THANGA TAMILSELVAN: Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that the 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to August 2, 2026; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) the total number of athletes/sportspersons from India are likely to participate in the said commonwealth games; (d) whether Indian athletes/sportspersons are being provided enough training, nutritious food to compete in the commonwealth games; and (e) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS [DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA] (a) to (c): Yes, Sir. Commonwealth Games 2026 are being held in Glasgow, Scotland from 23rd July, 2026 to 02nd August, 2026. The Indian contingent includes 125 athletes/sportspersons (77 males and 48 females), 50 team officials and 14 contingent staff. (d) & (e): Preparation for International events including Commonwealth Games is an ongoing and continuous process. The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports supports the Indian sportspersons/teams through various schemes, such as Scheme of Page 1 of 2Assistance to National Sports Federations and Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). Further, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the National Sports Federations (NSFs), including the Indian Olympic Association, and the Sports Authority of India are working in close coordination for providing best facilities, training, equipment support as also a wholesome nutritious diet required for preparation of the teams and sportspersons for the forthcoming international sports events, including Commonwealth Games. Training plans, competitive exposures and scientific back up and support have been devised in consultation with NSFs and sports experts. The Government is providing all requisite support and facilities to the athletes to enable them to put up their best in the forthcoming international sports events including Commonwealth Games. Also, Customized training as per the requirements of individual athletes is provided under TOPS. ***** Page 2 of 2
