INFRASTRUCTURE STRENGTHENING AND EXPANSION OF
FLIGHT OPERATIONS AT NANDED AIRPORT
1771. DR. AJEET MADHAVRAO GOPCHADE
Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:-
(a) whether Government is aware of the need for repair, strengthening and upgradation of the
perimeter/compound wall at Nanded airport, the State of Maharashtra;
(b) whether, in coordination with Government of Maharashtra, the Central Government has
taken steps to upgrade fire safety systems, aircraft refuelling facilities and strengthen the
runway infrastructure at the said airport;
(c) the details of funds sanctioned and works completed or under progress in this regard; and
(d) whether Government proposes to increase flight operations and air connectivity from
Nanded airport and if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER
Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar
Mohol)
(a) to (c):The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) has initiated multiple
development and repair works at Nanded Airport, including the strengthening and
upgradation of the airport's perimeter/compound wall. In coordination with the Directorate
General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), works such as runway recarpeting, runway strip grading,
and reconstruction of the perimeter road have also been awarded. To enhance fire safety
arrangements, MADC has procured two Airfield Fire Crash Tenders, and the airport presently
has refuelling facilities. The Government of Maharashtra has accorded administrative and
financial approval of Rs. 157.05 crore for carrying out these development and repair works.
(d): At present, Nanded Airport is handling an average of 10 flight movements per day.
Airline operators have filed four additional routes in the upcoming summer schedule.
