GOVERNMENT OFINDIA MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE DEPARTMENTOFHEALTH ANDFAMILYWELFARE LOK SABHA UNSTARREDQUESTION NO. 4635 TOBE ANSWERED ON20th MARCH 2026 INTENSIFIED MISSIONINDRADHANUSH IN TAMILNADU 4635.SHRIMALAIYARASAND: Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE be pleasedtostate: (a) the steps taken by the Government for the implementation of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) in Tamil Nadu along with the number of children and pregnant women covered under the scheme inKallakurichidistrict so far; (b) the progress made in increasing immunisation coverage in underserved areas of Kallakurichi district of Tamil Nadu underthe IMI; (c) the number of awareness campaigns conducted to inform the public about the benefits of immunizationunderthe Mission Indradhanush scheme inKallakurichi district of Tamil Nadu; (d) the challenges faced in the effective implementation of the scheme in Tamil Nadu, particularly in remote andrural areasand the steps beingtakentoaddress them;and (e) the impact of the scheme on reducing vaccine-preventable diseases and improving immunisation ratesinTamil Nadu? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE (SMT.ANUPRIYAPATEL) (a) & (b) Three rounds of Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 were held in the month of August, September and October 2023, with a focus on Measles Rubella Elimination and to improve vaccination coverage. The left out and the dropout children and pregnant women were line listed through a head count survey and due-listing was done. Children upto 5 years were targeted and UWIN portal was utilized for registering and recording all vaccination events. Review by the district and block task force on Immunization were carried out regularly for monitoring and ensuring the successful implementation of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush. The details of the immunization coverage as submitted by the state of Tamil Nadu isplacedasAnnexure. (c) As informed by the State of Tamil Nadu, intensified efforts with Information, Education and Communication campaigns were conducted in the district of Kallakurichi. Five mass rallies wereconducted in the district of Kallakurichi, involving Auxillary Nurse Midwife (ANM) and Nursing College students andotherstakeholders. (d) In hard-to-reach and remote areas, mobile health teams were deployed to ease the burden of vaccinators.
