STARRED QUESTION NO. 346* TO BE ANSWERED ON 18TH AUGUST, 2025
REGARDING ‘INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNTIES IN ANDHRA PRADESH UNDER PMIS’
(a): The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) announced in the Budget 2024-25,
aims to provide internship opportunities to one crore youth in top 500 companies in
five years. As an initiation to this Scheme, Ministry of Corporate Affairs has launched
a Pilot Project of the Scheme on 3rd October, 2024, which is targeted to provide 1.25
lakh internship opportunities in one year.
In the first round of the Pilot Project, which commenced from 3rd October, 2024,
more than 1.27 lakh internship opportunities were posted by the partner companies
across 745 districts in all States/ UTs of the country, out of which about 5000
internship opportunities were posted by the companies in the state of Andhra
Pradesh.
In the second round of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, which commenced
on 9th January, 2025, about 327 companies have posted over 1.18 lakh internship
opportunities (new and edited unfilled opportunities of previous round) across 735
districts of the country. In this round, over 4700 internship opportunities were posted
by the companies in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The district wise details of the internship opportunities posted by companies in
Andhra Pradesh in round II of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, is enclosed at
Annexure I.
(b): In the round I of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, more than 6.21 lakh
applications were received from about 1.81 lakh candidates. Partner companies
made over 82,000 internship offers, and more than 28,000 candidates accepted
offers to join the internship.
In the round II of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, which commenced on 9th
January, 2025, over 4.55 lakh applications were received from over 2.14 lakh
applicants. As on 12.08.2025, partner companies have made over 82000 offers to the
youth and over 24000 candidates have accepted offers to join the internship.
Currently, rolling out of offers and the process of acceptances/ joining by interns is
in progress.
State wise details of applications received, offers made by the companies and offers
accepted by candidates in round I and round II of the PM Internship Pilot Project are
enclosed at Annexure II and Annexure III respectively.
District wise details of applications received, offers made by the companies and
offers accepted by candidates in round I and round II of the PMIS Pilot Project, for
the state of Andhra Pradesh are enclosed at Annexure IV and Annexure V
respectively.(c): On the basis of concurrent evaluation and feedback survey carried out by the
Ministry of Corporate Affairs, outbound calls made by the call center to the
candidates and feedback received from various stakeholders, such as candidates,
industry & industry associations and state governments, including Andhra Pradesh,
the reasons for applicants not accepting the offer or not joining the internship are
location considerations, duration of internship, pursuance of higher education etc.
(d) & (e): The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is actively working with various
stakeholders such as state governments, central government ministries &
departments, and industry associations for promotion and implementation of the
scheme. In Andhra Pradesh, MCA has actively collaborated with State Government
to carry out extensive Information, Education and Communication activities,
including workshops, seminars, and promotional campaigns - both online and on-
ground to amplify program visibility and to reach out to the target groups in various
districts of the State. With active support from Nodal Department, awareness
campaigns were carried out at ITIs, Diploma, degree, and graduate colleges. The
Nodal Department is also providing support in monitoring the implementation of the
Pilot Project on a regular basis.
Further, the PMIS Portal is accessible in 12 different languages, including Telugu, to
enhance inclusivity from different geographical regions of the country.
Pilot Project is a pivotal phase that has allowed for testing concepts, strategies and
systems before a full-scale implementation. The full-scale roll-out of the PM
Internship Scheme would be based on the feedback received from the stakeholder
consultations and evaluation of outcomes during the implementation of the Pilot
Project.
