Dr. Byreddy Shabari: Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the total number of internship opportunities posted by partner companies under Round I and Round II of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) in Andhra Pradesh along with the details of the cities in which these internship positions were offered; (b) the number of applications received, offers made and internship acceptances recorded in both rounds of PMIS, State-wise, with district-wise data for Andhra Pradesh; (c) whether the Government has undertaken any analysis for non-acceptance of offers or low joining rates in Andhra Pradesh and if so, the findings thereof; (d) whether any specific steps have been taken to improve participation and internship completion in aspirational and educationally backward districts of the State, if so, the details thereof; and (e) the roadmap for expansion of PMIS and proposals received from the Government of Andhra Pradesh? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FINANCE AND CORPORATE AFFAIRS [SRIMATI NIRMALA SITHARAMAN] (a) to (e) : A Statement is laid on the Table of the House. *****STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a), (b), (c), (d) & (e) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 346* TO BE ANSWERED ON 18TH AUGUST, 2025 REGARDING ‘INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNTIES IN ANDHRA PRADESH UNDER PMIS’ (a): The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) announced in the Budget 2024-25, aims to provide internship opportunities to one crore youth in top 500 companies in five years. As an initiation to this Scheme, Ministry of Corporate Affairs has launched a Pilot Project of the Scheme on 3rd October, 2024, which is targeted to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities in one year. In the first round of the Pilot Project, which commenced from 3rd October, 2024, more than 1.27 lakh internship opportunities were posted by the partner companies across 745 districts in all States/ UTs of the country, out of which about 5000 internship opportunities were posted by the companies in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In the second round of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, which commenced on 9th January, 2025, about 327 companies have posted over 1.18 lakh internship opportunities (new and edited unfilled opportunities of previous round) across 735 districts of the country. In this round, over 4700 internship opportunities were posted by the companies in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The district wise details of the internship opportunities posted by companies in Andhra Pradesh in round II of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, is enclosed at Annexure I. (b): In the round I of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, more than 6.21 lakh applications were received from about 1.81 lakh candidates. Partner companies made over 82,000 internship offers, and more than 28,000 candidates accepted offers to join the internship. In the round II of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, which commenced on 9th January, 2025, over 4.55 lakh applications were received from over 2.14 lakh applicants. As on 12.08.2025, partner companies have made over 82000 offers to the youth and over 24000 candidates have accepted offers to join the internship. Currently, rolling out of offers and the process of acceptances/ joining by interns is in progress. State wise details of applications received, offers made by the companies and offers accepted by candidates in round I and round II of the PM Internship Pilot Project are enclosed at Annexure II and Annexure III respectively. District wise details of applications received, offers made by the companies and offers accepted by candidates in round I and round II of the PMIS Pilot Project, for the state of Andhra Pradesh are enclosed at Annexure IV and Annexure V respectively.(c): On the basis of concurrent evaluation and feedback survey carried out by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, outbound calls made by the call center to the candidates and feedback received from various stakeholders, such as candidates, industry & industry associations and state governments, including Andhra Pradesh, the reasons for applicants not accepting the offer or not joining the internship are location considerations, duration of internship, pursuance of higher education etc. (d) & (e): The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is actively working with various stakeholders such as state governments, central government ministries & departments, and industry associations for promotion and implementation of the scheme. In Andhra Pradesh, MCA has actively collaborated with State Government to carry out extensive Information, Education and Communication activities, including workshops, seminars, and promotional campaigns - both online and on- ground to amplify program visibility and to reach out to the target groups in various districts of the State. With active support from Nodal Department, awareness campaigns were carried out at ITIs, Diploma, degree, and graduate colleges. The Nodal Department is also providing support in monitoring the implementation of the Pilot Project on a regular basis. Further, the PMIS Portal is accessible in 12 different languages, including Telugu, to enhance inclusivity from different geographical regions of the country. Pilot Project is a pivotal phase that has allowed for testing concepts, strategies and systems before a full-scale implementation.
