GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1372 ANSWERED ON - 11/02/2026 INTRODUCTION OF V2V COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY 1372. SHRI JAGGESH: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that Government proposes to introduce Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication technology nationwide, aimed at reducing road accidents and improving road safety; (b) whether the system enables vehicles to communicate directly with each other, eliminating the need for mobile networks; (c) whether the new system will alert drivers in real time about the speed, location, acceleration, braking and presence of vehicles in the blind spots of nearby vehicles and enable drivers to take preventative action; and (d) if so, the details thereof and how soon the on-board units under this initiative will be installed in vehicles? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) to (d) The Government accords high priority to road safety in the country. To reduce fatalities due to road accidents and enhance road safety, the Government through Ministry of Communications has earmarked 50 MHz in the frequency range of 5875-5925 MHz in the National Frequency Allocation Plan (NFAP-2025) for Intelligent Transport System (V2X) use. V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) Communication system enables vehicles to broadcast their status data (such as position, speed, etc.) with surrounding vehicles to provide a level of situational awareness that exceeds human vision or traditional sensors like cameras, radar, etc. specially at the intersections or blind spots. *****
