now being implemented under Pradhan Mantri-Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (PM-RKVY).
1(b) & (c) Irrigation potential of 223.62 thousand hectare has been created/restored against the target of
239.99 thousand hectare under PMKSY-AIBP and 101.72 thousand hectare command area has been
developed against the target of 142.66 thousand hectare under PMKSY-CAD&WM under the projects
being implemented in the State of Punjab since 2016-17. Further, 19,941 hectare area in Punjab has been
brought under micro irrigation under PDMC during this period.
Government of Punjab has informed that about 98% of the cultivated area in Punjab is already under
assured surface and sub-surface irrigation and large scale prevalence of paddy–wheat cropping system in
Punjab limits the adoption of micro-irrigation by farmers in the State.
