(a) and(b):As on 31.12.2025, more than 42.78 crore Ayushman Cards have been createdand
a total of 11.22 crore hospital admissions amounting to Rs.1.65 lakh crore has been
authorized under Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). The
State/UT-wise details of number of cards created and hospital admissions authorized under
AB-PMJAYareat Annexure.
(c) and (d): AB-PMJAY was launched in September 2018 to provide health coverage to
bottom 40% of India’s population. Initially, 10.74 Crore beneficiary families under AB-
PMJAY were identified from the Socio-economic Caste Census (SECC) of 2011. In January
2022, the beneficiary base was revised to 12 Crore families from earlier 10.74 crore families
and flexibility is given to States to use other Aadhaar verified databases of similar socio-
economicprofile.Further, in March 2024, the eligibility criteria were expanded to include approximately 37
lakh Accredited Social Health Activists, Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers, and their
families. In October 2024, the scheme was further expanded to cover 6 crore senior citizens
of age 70 years and above belonging to 4.5 crore families irrespective of their socio-
economicstatus.
The empanelment of hospitals under the Scheme has increased from 6,917 hospitals in FY
2018–19, comprising 3,013 public and 3,904 private hospitals, to 33,270 hospitals as on
31.12.2025, of which 17,537 are public and 15,733 are private hospitals. Also, the Health
Benefit Packages has been revised five times since the launch of the scheme. Initially, the
scheme included 1,393 packages, which has now expanded to 1,961 packages across 27
medicalspecialties.
National Health Authority has a comprehensive media and outreach strategy to spread
awareness and empower beneficiaries. Besides, special campaigns are undertaken to increase
