Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) the areas of the country where water conservation, rainwater harvesting and community participation-
based activities have been implemented so far under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan along with the progress
thereof, State-wise;
(b) the number of farmers benefitted through water use efficiency, micro-irrigation and minor irrigation
projects under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), State-wise;
(c) whether the Government has prepared any summary of major achievements of the programmes,
schemes and initiatives undertaken by it since 2014 and if so, the details thereof;
and
(d) the major achievements and outcomes attained at the national level by the Government since 2014?

(a) 'Water' being a state subject, steps for augmentation, conservation and efficient management of water
resources are primarily undertaken by the respective State Governments. In order to supplement the efforts
of the State Governments, Central Government provides technical and financial assistance to them through
various schemes and programmes. The Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) started in 2019 with Jal Shakti Abhiyan:
Catch The Rain campaign ( JSA: CTR), has become an annual feature since 2021. The Ministry has
launched the 6th edition of JSA :CTR on 22nd March 2025 ( World Water Day ) with the theme “Jal
Sanchay, Jan Bhagidari: Jan Jagrukta Ki Or”, emphasizing community participation and water
conservation awareness.The campaign emphasizes convergent financing and active community
participation to ensure maximum impact. For effective inter-sectoral convergence among Ministries for
constructing water conservation and rainwater harvesting structures, the Government has a multi-pronged
strategy that leverages collaboration, resource optimization and institutional coordination. The details of
state-wise progress under JSA: CTR campaign across the country is attached at Annexure-I.
1(b) Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) was launched during the year 2015-16, with the
aim to enhance physical access of water on farm and expand cultivable area under assured irrigation,
improve on-farm water use efficiency, introduce sustainable water conservation practices, etc. Pradhan
Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY) is an umbrella scheme, consisting of two major components being
implemented by the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry
of Jal Shakti, namely, Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP), and Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP).
AIBP and HKKP components deal with creation of irrigation potential through implementation of
major, medium and minor irrigation projects including extension, renovation and modernization and
command area development and water management. Separate details of beneficiaries through irrigation
potential creation, water use efficiency enhancement, micro irrigation etc. are not maintained by
DoWR,RD&GR. Total estimated number of target beneficiary by creation of irrigation potential, including
extension, renovation and modernization and enhancement of water use efficiency and implementation of
micro irrigation under these projects is about 1.95 crore.
Further, Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) scheme, dedicated to micro irrigation development and
enhancement in water use efficiency, is implemented by DoA&FW, has about 86.14 lakh beneficiaries till
October,2024. State wise details of beneficiary under irrigation projects of PMKSY and PDMC is placed as
Annexure-II.
(c) & (d) The major achievements and outcomes of DoWR, RD & GR since 2014 is available on the
