Shri Prabhakar Reddy Vemireddy: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) whether it is true that there are 587 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in Andhra Pradesh, if so, the details thereof, district-wise; (b) whether it is true that only 490 are functional out of 587 schools and if so, the reasons therefor; (c) the details of enrolment of girls, SC, ST, OBC and Physically Challenged in KGBVs in the said State during the last five years and the current year, year-wise; and (d) the details of dropout rate, retention rate, teacher-pupil ratio and vacancies in KGBVs in the said State, district-wise and efforts being made to fill the vacancies of teaching and non-teaching posts? A N S W E R MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a) to (d): As per information received from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, there are total 587 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in Andhra Pradesh out of which 546 are functional. State has informed that 31 non-functional KGBVs are under various stages of work. Teacher-pupil ratio of 1:21 is maintained in KGBVs in State of Andhra Pradesh. The district-wise details of approved Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in Andhra Pradesh are at Annexure-I.
