SHRI CHHOTELAL: SHRI NARAYANDAS AHIRWAR: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is aware that there is no rail service available in Sonbhadra from Chakia to Naugarh, Sonbhadra via Bhabhua, Mohania since independence and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the Government proposes to start rail service to the said district; (c) if so, the details thereof and the time by when the rail service is likely to become operational at the said places; (d) whether there is no direct train service from the Lok Sabha Constituencies of Jalaun, Garautha, Bhognipur and districts Hamirpur and Kanpur Dehat which are situated in Bundelkhand region to Delhi leading to wastage of time and money of local residents, students, businessmen and labourers and if so, the details thereof; Contd…2/--2- (e) whether the Government proposes to introduce a direct train service from Orai to Delhi keeping in view the long standing demand of the people of this region and if so, the details thereof; and (f) whether the Government proposes to operate trains like Shramshakti Express, Chhapra Express and Gatimaan Express from Orai, the headquarter of Jalaun district to New Delhi and if so, the details thereof and the proposed plans of the Government in this regard and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (f) : Sonbhadra and Bhabhua Road (Mohania) are already connected via Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Chunar on existing Railway network. Feasibility for Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay-Bhabhua via Naugarh new line (57 Km) was carried out. The project could not be taken forward due to low traffic projection. Contd…3/--3- Sanction of any railway project depend upon many parameters/factors which include the following:  Anticipated traffic projections and Remunerativeness of the proposed route  First and last mile connectivity provided by the project  Connection of missing links and providing additional route  Augmentation of congested/saturated lines  Demands raised by State Governments/Central Ministries/Public representatives,  Railway’s own operational requirements  Socio-economic considerations  Overall availability of funds Orai station, which caters to Jalaun, is served by 80 train services. Presently, 38 pairs of train services each provide connectivity for Kanpur and Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi stations from Orai. Further, Kanpur (which also caters to the needs of Hamirpur and Kanpur Dehat) and Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi are presently well connected to Delhi area by 98 pairs and 78 pairs of train services respectively. Similarly, Garautha is served by Harpalpur railway station catered by 22 train services including 2 pairs of trains providing connectivity to Delhi. Bhongipur is served by Pokhrayan station catered by 42 train services. Contd…4/--4- As the railway network straddles across State/District boundaries, trains are introduced, as per network requirement, across such boundaries.
