Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate:
(a) whether the Government is aware that land had earlier been allotted at Raha in Nagaon
district, Assam for establishing an institution similar to the All India Institute of Medical
Sciencesinthe Middle Assam region, if so, the detailsthereof;
(b) whether the proposed AIIMS project was subsequently established at the All India Institute
of Medical Sciences, Guwahati and if so, the reasons for not developing the institute on the
landallottedat Raha; and
(c) the present status of the landallottedat Raha for the proposed projectandwhether the Union
Government proposes to establish any major healthcare institution or medical infrastructure
there inviewof the healthcare needsof Middle Assam inAssam, if so, the detailsthereof?

(a) and (b) Under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), an AIIMS has been
established at Village Jalah, Kamrup District, Guwahati in Assam. The site selected for
establishment of newAIIMS takesintoaccount variousfactors such asavailability of contiguous
encumbrance-free land, connectivity, patient convenience, proximity to other healthcare
institutions, accessibility toeducationalfacilitiesandcivic amenitiesetc.
(c)No. The landat Raha inNagaon district, Assam hasnot beenallottedtoGovernment of India.
