LAYING OF PIPELINES UNDER JJM IN JAUNPUR

Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that despite laying of pipelines under Jal Jeevan Mission
(JJM), regular drinking water supply has not been started in several villages of Jaunpur Lok
Sabha Constituency in Uttar Pradesh and if so, the details thereof along with the details of
villages selected and progress made under the first, second and third phases of JJM;
(b) the number of villages where works have been completed under the first phase and the
number of villages where regular drinking water supply is being provided to every household
through Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs);
(c) the list of villages having hundred per cent FHTCs and regular water supply;
(d) whether the roads damaged due to pipeline laying works have been repaired in a timely
manner, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(e) the details of the villages with pending repairing work and the action taken against the
responsible agencies?

(a) Drinking Water is a ‘State’ subject, and hence, under JJM, the responsibility of planning,
approval, implementation, operation & maintenance of drinking water supply schemes lies with
State/UT Governments. The Government of India supports the States by providing technical
and financial assistance. The Union Cabinet has approved extension of the Jal Jeevan Mission
(JJM), with an enhanced outlay and a restructured implementation framework focusing on
structural reforms in the rural drinking water supply sector under JJM 2.0.
State of Uttar Pradesh has informed that in Jaunpur Lok Sabha Constituency, 690 number of
Water supply schemes covering 1,723 villages are implemented under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Page 1 of 2(b) State of UP has informed that there are 43 schemes covering 103 villages in Jaunpur Lok
Sabha Constituency, where regular water is supplied through these schemes.

(d) State of UP has informed that in Jaunpur Lok Sabha Constituency, 2,448.16 km of
various types of roads have been dismantled out of which 2,309.15 km of roads are restored or
made motorable.
(e) State has informed that a few patches of repair work are pending in some villages which
shall be completed after proper hydro testing of the pipeline and providing tap connections to
remaining households. Liquidated compensation has been imposed on the implementing
agencies.
