Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

**Summary:** In response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 1464, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare addresses the linkage of AgriStack for providing a weather-based crop insurance system. As of Kharif 2025, a Farmer ID within AgriStack is mandatory for enrollment in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) for farmers in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. To facilitate registration, multiple methods are available, including self-registration, Common Service Centers, camp mode, and Sahayak mode, with Farmer IDs being issued within 48 hours of registration. However, following requests from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, an exemption has been granted for the Kharif 2025 season, allowing farmers in these states to enroll in PMFBY/RWBCIS without a Farmer ID.
