MAINTENANCE OF CULTURAL HERITAGES SITES IN UTTARAKHAND
27# SHRI MAHENDRA BHATT:
Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state:
(a) the number of historical and cultural heritages selected in Uttarakhand;
(b) the location of these heritage sites in the State and the amount spent by the Central
Government on their maintenance;
(c) whether Government is considering the renovation of those sites that are in dilapidated
condition;
(d) whether Government has prepared any action plan for this; and
(e) if so, the outline thereof?
ANSWER

(a) There are 43 ancient monuments and archaeological sites and remains declared as of national
importance in the State of Uttarakhand.
(b) The locations-wise details of these national importance monuments and areas (sites) in the
State of Uttarakhand are given at Annexure. Further, the amount spent funds on their
conservation and maintenance during the last three years is given as under:

(c) No such protected monuments and areas (sites) are in dilapidated condition. However, the
conservation and preservation of the protected monuments and areas (sites) are taken up by
Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as per the need and requirement considering availability
of funds and resources, following the national conservation policy, which is a continuous
process.
