SHRI BAJRANG MANOHAR SONWANE SHRI SANJAY HARIBHAU JADHAV Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether the Government has conducted any investigations into the recent air accidents in the country and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the causes of these air accidents have been identified and if so, the findings thereof; (c) the total number of fatalities and injuries caused due to air accidents in different parts of the country; (d) whether any compensation or assistance is provided to the families of passengers who lost their lives or were injured in air accidents; (e) if so, the details of compensation amount disbursed during the last three years; (f) whether any specific training programmes is being organised by the Government for pilots, ground staff and other relevant personnel to prevent such accidents in the future and if so, the details thereof; (g) whether all aircraft operating in the country are equipped with modern technologies, if so, the details thereof and if not, the details of the plan to upgrade them technologically; and (h) whether the Government has adopted international norms to prevent air accidents and if so, the details thereof? ANSWERMinister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (c): There have been a total of 08 accidents (involving 1 scheduled aircraft, 3 trainee aircraft and 4 helicopters) reported in the year 2025 (till date). The details are enclosed as Annexure A. The cause of these accidents is under investigation by Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) as per the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents & Incidents) Rules, 2017.; ; (d) & (e): Payment of compensation to the passenger or Next of Kin in case of death or bodily injury to the passenger, caused by air accident / incident is governed by the provisions of Carriage by Air Act, 1972. India has ratified the Montreal Convention, 1999 by making amendments to the Carriage by Air Act, 1972 in 2009. As per the said act, the liability of payment of compensation in case of death, delay, damage or loss to persons, baggage or cargo for international carriage, is of the carriers.; ; (f) to (h): Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued Civil Aviation Requirements (CARs) which are at par with international standards. All pilots are required to undergo training as per the training syllabus provided by the OEM (aircraft manufacturer). In addition, training can be undertaken only in DGCA approved Flying Training Organisations (FTOs) / Aviation Training Organisations (ATOs). DGCA ensures FTOs' quality and safety through regular surveillance under its Annual Surveillance Plan (ASP).; ; Ground staff are trained by the operators as per the Ground Handling Manual. The same applies to the other relevant staff. ; ; All aircraft engaged in scheduled commercial operations in the country are equipped with modern technologies.; ; India being a signatory to the Chicago Convention, 1944, complies with all the International standards provided under the annexes of the convention.
